I attended the annual family business award banquet held by the Institute for Family Owned Business (IFOB) in Portland. The IFOB is a non-profit organization committed to supporting, strengthening and empowering family-owned businesses throughout the state of Maine (see www.fambusiness.org for more information).
It was a wonderful evening with many deserving family owned businesses receiving nominations for various awards. As a family owned agency our self, in our fourth generation of Chalmers ownership, we value the uniqueness of owning and operating a family owned business and we understand working with other family owned businesses the added layers and challenges of separating ‘family from work’. It was nice to see that several of the nominees are clients of the Chalmers Agency.
One of the nominees for the Maddy Corson Small Business Award was Kingsley Pines. It was very nice to see the extended Coughlan Family along with Alan Kissack. After great anticipation the emcee announced the winner from all of the nominees and Kinglsey Pines name was spoken. What a wonderful honor and award for Kingsley Pines and for the camp industry. As many of you may or may not know, Kingsley Pines is a ‘young’ camp compared to their peers, having been established in 1984 and is now in its second generation of Coughlan ownership. Please join me in congratulating Kingsley Pines, the Coughlan family and Alan Kissack.
