MWVCC Chili Cook Off benefits End 68 Hours of Hunger

March 22, 2017

At Chalmers Insurance Group, we are digging out our big tasting spoons for a Conway NH classic, the MWVCC Chili Cook Off. As Platinum sponsors of the chamber, we have entry into the contest! We are especially excited this year, not only because our agents have some seriously spicy family recipes for you to try but because our Chalmers Cares non-profit, End 68 Hours of Hunger, is benefiting from this huge event. Bring an item from the End 68 shopping list and take a $1 off admission to the event! Please remember that canned food can be dropped off at any Chalmers office to benefit End 68.

CONWAY — The Mt. Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce recently announced that the 14th Annual Chili Cookoff will be held April 8 at the North Conway Community Center for non-professional chefs representing non-profits and other businesses, and at the Gibson Center for Senior Services for the professional chefs.

This year, a new event — the Feelin' Good 5K— will be added to the lineup of activities.

All professional chef chili entries will be judged by members from the American Culinary Federation White Mountain Chapter, headed by Bryant Alden, chef from the Wildcat Tavern in Jackson.

Awards will be given for Best Chili with first, second and third places acknowledged.

Professional and non-professional chefs also have the chance to win the People's Choice Award for Best Chili, selected by all tasters who attend the tour.

The accompanying Feelin' Good 5K is organized by the White Mountain Milers and will kick off the Chili Cookoff event at 9:30am. This friendly 5K race or walk is set to run through the North Conway Village starting and finishing in Schouler Park.

Registration for the run/walk can be found at and is $35, which includes entry into the chili cookoff for the participating runner. Additional chili cook-off entry tickets for friends and family may be purchased at the pre-race registration table from 8 a.m.-9:30 a.m.

Those who bring an item from the 68 Hours of Hunger shopping list will receive $1 off the adult ticket price of $15. For list, go to

End 68 Hours of Hunger is a private, not-for-profit, effort to confront the approximately 68 hours of hunger that some school children experience between the free lunch they receive at school on Friday afternoon and the free breakfast they receive at school on Monday morning.
