Steve was promoted to President of Chalmers Insurance Group in January of 2014, the first non-family member to lead the Agency in its 160 year history. A licensed Property and Casualty Insurance Agent in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont, he has served as a trusted risk management advisor to individuals, families, and businesses for over 25 years. His specialty industry segments include Hospitality, Social Services and Not-for-Profit, Educational Institutions and Camps as well as Personal Insurance, Vacation Homes and Vacation Rental Properties.

Steve often serves as an advisory board member with our carrier partners, to help assure the very best in products and services for our Group and our valued clients. Current and past advisory relationships include: Hanover Insurance; Peerless/Liberty Mutual; Acadia Insurance; MMG Insurance; Main Street America Group/NGM Insurance (2017 National Chairman) and Patriot Insurance.

Dottie Chalmers Cutter

Dottie is the fourth generation of Chalmers to work in the family insurance business. Daughter of Bill Chalmers, she was born and raised in Bridgton, Maine. She is a 2003 graduate of Bowdoin College and joined the agency in 2005. She is a licensed Maine Property & Casualty Insurance Agent and began her career as a personal lines agent. She quickly advanced to personal lines marketing executive, a position which gave her a lot of exposure in the community, working primarily with small to large business owners promoting an Employer Group Insurance Discount Program. With a background in Personal Lines and an interest in management, she became Personal Lines Manager in 2012. She is now the Vice President of Operations, overseeing 85 employees in the areas of commercial lines, personal lines, and agency assistance. Dottie has a passion for increasing awareness about insurance as a career in hopes of attracting more young professionals. She works with local area high schools to promote Project InVEST and is responsible for the establishment and recruitment of Chalmers’ internship program.

After graduating from Bowdoin College in 2002 Jim worked with an insurance company in the greater Boston area.  While working with the insurance company, Jim spent time moving through the company being given the opportunity to work alongside Personal Lines, Commercial Lines, Marketing and Loss Control Departments. Jim then spent a year as a claims adjuster prior to moving back to Maine and joining the family business.  Having spent over two years working for an insurance company provided Jim a broad knowledge base of the insurance industry which he brought with him in 2004 when he came back to Maine to work for the Chalmers Group as a fourth generation family member.

Jim is licensed to sell insurance products in over nine states, focusing primarily in the Northeast. He is also a licensed Surplus Lines, Life & Health and Real Estate agent. Jim earned the Certified Insurance Counselor designation (C.I.C), because of his commitment to continued education as an insurance professional.

Jim strives to provide comprehensive insurance and loss control solutions to his clients while creating long-term relationships.  Jim works primarily within the following departments of The Chalmers Group:

  • The CampUSA Insurance Program, which specializes in insuring youth summer camps in the Northeast.
  • Insuring the ski industry for the state of Maine
  • Business owners in offering coverages such as:
  • Workers Compensation, General Liability, Products Liability, Property, Auto, and Professional Liability
  • Chalmers Financial Services benefits division, which consists of individual and group benefits products such as: Life, Long Term Care, Disability, and Group Health

Bruce joined the Maine family business in 1960, and has been in the Insurance/Real Estate business for over forty years. He is a licensed Maine and New Hampshire Property & Casualty, Surplus Lines, and Life & Health Agent, as well as a licensed Real Estate broker and Notary Public. Bruce specializes in insuring New England boys' and girls' summer camps, ski areas, and all types of businesses. He enjoys dealing with people, their lives, and businesses, and takes pride in establishing and maintaining valuable relationships with customers. He works extremely hard to exceed customers' needs and expectations as an insurance provider and real estate broker.

A resident of Bridgton, Maine, Bruce is a very active community member. His accomplishments include:

A co-owner of the Chalmers Group, Bill serves as its General Manager and Treasurer. He joined the Maine family business in 1973, and has now been involved in the insurance industry for over thirty years. Bill is also a Maine and New Hampshire licensed Property & Casualty and Life & Health Agent.

Bill believes that providing customer satisfaction is the fundamental component in running a successful corporation, and strives to get to know his clients and employees on a personal level to ensure their needs are addressed. He is also very involved in the community and serves as:

Scott joined his father, Phil Lovejoy, at the Lovejoy Agency in 1990. On Phil’s retirement in 2007, Scott joined forces with Bill and Bruce Chalmers becoming a part of the Chalmers Group. He has held his Property/ Casualty/ Surplus lines license in Maine and NH since 1991. His specialties include municipalities and the logging industry but takes great pride in servicing the needs of all clients big and small.

Scott supports many local charities and clubs. He is a member of Pythagorean Lodge #11, Fryeburg Maine Fish and Game Association, Interstate SnoGoers and a board member of Fryeburg Academy Alumni Association.

His interests include hunting, snowmobiling, and golf as well as rooting for the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.
