Human Resources Manager

The Human Resources Manager (HRM) at Chalmers Insurance Group serves as a strategic business partner supporting all areas of the company and leads all aspects related to “people and culture.” The right candidate will have a solid HR generalist background including employee relations, benefits management, and recruitment, as well as experience leading a team.

This role is a vital member of the Chalmers Leadership Team, has complete ownership of the day-to-day HR strategy, and coordinates directly with the owners/Senior Leadership Team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the operations of the HR Department including recruitment, benefits, employee relations, compliance, payroll, etc.
  • Serves as a strategic HR business partner within the leadership team.
  • Acts as a coaching leader to their direct report, the HR Generalist.
  • Ensures all open positions are filled with candidates who fit the Chalmers culture.
  • Assists the Leadership Team in the development, perpetuation, and creation of career paths within the organization to satisfy current and future needs.
  • Communicates corporate culture and company philosophy to all co-workers.
  • Assists the Controller with bi-weekly payroll process.
  • Plans and directs implementation and administration of employee benefit programs such as health insurance, disability insurance, life insurance, workers compensation, retirement, and other plans.
  • Analyzes the Company's existing benefits policies and prevailing practices among similar organizations, to establish competitive benefits programs.
  • Plans, makes recommendations to management, implements, and evaluates the Company's human resources policies and procedures, including maintaining a current employee handbook.
  • Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions, and audits employment policies, procedures, practices, and reporting to ensure that all comply.

Who You Are

  • A passionate HR leader with 7+ years of progressive experience; SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
  • Has a Bachelor’s degree in human resources, leadership, business administration or a related field.
  • Has 3+ years of experience in a supervisory role.
  • A supportive leader and coach who inspires teams to do big things and solve hard problems.
  • Highly organized, energetic, and charismatic with demonstrable experience leading, developing and mentoring others, growing future leaders and inspiring high-performing teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and creative skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
  • Effective and persuasive in leading change across multiple groups, driving alignment, and applying business acumen, company values, and emotional intelligence that inspires others.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and accountability.
  • An active listener to co-workers; eager to understand how to be of assistance.

Your Core Competencies Might Include

  • Relevant human resources experience with a focus on recruitment, co-worker relations, and benefits management.
  • Proficiency in MS Office system computer software.
  • Proficient experience managing the payroll function.
  • An owner mindset and entrepreneurial attitude.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to proficiently manage multiple ongoing projects.
  • Ability to work well and collaborate with others.
  • Extremely detail-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both informal and in presentation.
  • Experience leading an HR team.
